The first collegiate team to win a national championship in any sport from any college or university in the state of Florida the 1951 NCAA gymnastic team national championship

 

The first FSU students to make an Olympic team; Don Holder and Bill Roetzheim, 1952, Helsinki

 

The first FSU students to make a Pan-Am games team; Don Holder, Jack Miles & Raphael Lecuona, 1955, Mexico City.

 

     Nine FSU Olympians and other International Competitors

 

The first FSU men's athletic team to win a NCAA National Championship the 1951 NCAA gymanastic team national championship

 

The first FSU team to win a Women's National Championship 1953 NAAU Team Drill (Rhythmic gymnastics)

The FSU team defeated two different nation's Olympic Teams, Sweden twice, in 1954 & 1955 (in Tallahassee), and Cuba in 1956 (in Havana)
